Last Friday, Communispace’s Boston office hosted its second ever live, in-office concert called Communijam. Communijam was an idea proposed to give Communispacer’s the opportunity to get together and make great music then perform it in front of the whole organization. If there is one thing you can find a lot of in this office aside from creative genius and an abundance of energy, it’s musical talent. We’re not just talking “I own Guitar Hero” talent here, we’re talking, “Yeah, I’m in a band, we have a show in Cambridge tonight.” talent.MORE…

Some of the most interesting insights come from comparing two related, yet very different segments of individuals. We do it all the time for clients, and since we value philanthropy here at Communispace, I took it upon myself this weekend to extend our gift of analytical insight to the greater world beyond.MORE…

There was an early sign I was meant to go into marketing: I was a kid and was so excited for the Super bowl ads. We’re not talking “yay,” excitement but all out “this is just as good as Christmas excitement.”

To prepare, my father, ever the analyst, created a spreadsheet in which he recorded each family member’s rating of each ad on a ten point scale.MORE…

Is it just me or has Boston been getting a pretty bad rap lately? I really should start with the caveat that I am a born and raised Bostonian; from the Pru to the Pats to the Public Gardens, I love it all. So this post is almost (not almost) 100% influenced by that. But all bias aside, someone needed to step up for Beantown … and I’m going to be the one to do it.

Let me begin by saying that I love Christmas. I am not particularly religious but I am attracted as a lot of people are by the sense of occasion, its opt-in seasonal faith, its proud, shameless indulgence and the opportunity it gives to pause and take stock at the end of the year.MORE…

I recently edged out an incumbent to become mayor. No, Boston mayor Thomas Menino still has his job. I couldn’t hope to match his public speaking presence. The mayorship I’ve attained is not democratically determined, but rather on Foursquare.
I will be the first to admit – I was not an early adopter of Angry Birds. I would make fun of my friends who spent hours captivated by the squealing pigs and their avian foes. Don’t you have something better to do, I would ask.

And then one day, that all changed. A few months ago I decided it was time to leave the world of BlackBerry and enter the new and exciting world of the Droid. With my new phone in hand I thought I would download Angry Birds and just see what all of the fuss was about.MORE…

This week I was reminded of one of my favorite books as a kid… “Mistakes that worked.” Yes, I realize that this is a pretty dorky favorite book, but Harry Potter wasn’t out yet and it was a nice break from those entrepreneurial babysitters.

“Mistakes that worked” shared the stories of inventions that were for the most part accidental but turned out to be great successes. Examples featured in the book include:MORE…

If you’ve ever been in Boston on the last day of August or the first day of September, you’ve probably wished that you never left home. August 31st and September 1st are, by far, the two worst days of the year to be in Boston; everyone is moving. There are more moving trucks, vans and trailers on the streets than cars and the vast majority of them are double-parked with flashers on.MORE…
