Could Your Mistake be the Next Big Thing?

Elisa C.

This week I was reminded of one of my favorite books as a kid… “Mistakes that worked.” Yes, I realize that this is a pretty dorky favorite book, but Harry Potter wasn’t out yet and it was a nice break from those entrepreneurial babysitters.

“Mistakes that worked” shared the stories of inventions that were for the most part accidental but turned out to be great successes. Examples featured in the book include:MORE…

Moving Has a Bad Rap

Nate F.

If you’ve ever been in Boston on the last day of August or the first day of September, you’ve probably wished that you never left home. August 31st and September 1st are, by far, the two worst days of the year to be in Boston; everyone is moving. There are more moving trucks, vans and trailers on the streets than cars and the vast majority of them are double-parked with flashers on.MORE…

Why do we Want to be Bears? Anthropomorphic Ethnographic Research in Action

Julie W.S.

By now you’re probably all familiar with The Onion’s publication of research from the University of Virginia indicating that 96% of all humans would strongly prefer to be singing, dancing, animatronic bears.

This is hardly big news. MORE…

By Being Connected, What Are We Giving Up?

Elisa C.

Earlier this week, The Boston Globe featured an article highlighting that incoming freshman are using Facebook to select their roommates. Something about this development just isn’t sitting right with me. I understand that there is a certain appeal to having a choice in who you live with for your first year of college, but at the same time, isn’t part of the “fun” of going away to college being pushed outside of our comfort zones?MORE…

4 Minutes and a Cafeteria

Heather K.

Earlier this week, I was one of 32 participants in the 5th Speed Networking Event at Communispace. The event took place in our Fenway-themed cafeteria, with two long rows of tables set up, with interns on one side and senior staff members on the other. The idea was to give us (the interns) an opportunity to talk one-on-one with those higher up in the company, and pick their brains for a few minutes each.MORE…

Qdoba or Barista: That is the question

Nate F.

If you walked into your office in the morning and were presented with a choice, a free coffee concoction made fresh by local barista or a free lunch catered by the Mexican aficionados at Qdoba, what would you choose?

I found myself in this very discussion (argument) with my cube neighbor who, for now, will remain nameless. For some background, Communispace provides free lunch on Thursdays in the summer and a free barista on Mondays in the winter. MORE…

Communispace Shenanigans

Amanda F.

When roaming down the hallways of Communispace, you can tell one thing is for sure – there is no lack of imagination. In an environment of work hard, play hard, C-Spacers certainly know how to liven up their day-to-day routine. And why should our clients care about our carefree ways? Because creativity and collaboration breed in an environment where thinking out loud and expressing our crazy ideas are openly invited and encouraged.MORE…

Reflection on Two Years at Communispace

Elisa C.

Next week, I’ll be celebrating my two year anniversary at Communispace. As a kid, my dad always encouraged my siblings and me to take a minute to reflect on what we’ve learned. A creature of habit, I’ve been doing just that this past week and thought I’d share with you some of the things I’ve learned working at Communispace:MORE…
